Drew Rich Cole
A Lower Delaware Talent
Musical Experience
Throughout my life I have been involved with music and singing in a variety of different ways. Though a choir student since 1st grade, my musicianship really began in 8th grade at Southern Delaware School of The Arts after joining a rock band class where I learned to play guitar and sing rock songs such as “Smells Like the Teen Spirit”. I discovered my ability to use my voice in a wide range of different ways and a blossiming appreciation for live music. I was an All-State Chorus tenor for two years in a row, and a feature in every choir concert throughout my years at Sussex Central High School. I was a recurring act for every talent show both with full band, duet, and solo acts, with covers of both serious and comedic tunes!
During my first year at the University of Delaware, I joined the all-male A Capella group called “The YChromes”. I joined a small group of 6 members that quickly expanded to 20 members within the next year. We successfully recorded albums (Check out our rendition of “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake on my site’s homepage!) and even competed in the ICCA’s!
After college, while starting my career in education, I was a fill-in singer for a successful local rock cover band called OverTime, singing songs from every decade. Recently, I play here and there with my fellow Sussex county musicians. (Check out my friend Rob Barbarita and I’s duo, “The Birkenjocks”).
I have always loved to sing and love getting to show off what I can do both as a lead singer and a contributor to beautiful harmonies!
Other Hammy Things
My experience in performance and all things hammy doesn't stop with music. I have been an actor since he age of 4, appearing in productions such as The Jungle Book, The Wizard of Oz, The FlipSide of Christmas, Around the World in 80 Days, Peter Pan, Beauty and The Beast, Aladdin, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame (Quasimodo), Romeo and Juliet (Paris), Dr. Ghosts (as Dr. Ghost), The Actor’s Nightmare, The Hounds of Baskerville (Dr. Watson), The 39 Steps (20+ different roles in one play as ’Clown 1’), Rocky Horror Picture Show (Dr. Scott), Heathers, Bye-Bye Birdie, Into the Woods, The Christmas Carol (Ghost of Christmas Present), The Music Man (Harold Hill), and countless other productions I sincerely can’t remember all of the names of. I have had the pleasure of working with almost every local theater, including a period of time as the acting teacher for ClearSpace Theater’s Broadway Bound program.
In addition to my traditional acting experience, I am also an active core member of the Delaware Comedy Theater, performing improv comedy with the group around Sussex County Delaware since 2017.
Recently, I have also had the pleasure of directing two middle school musicals, Bugsy Malone Jr. & The Music Man Jr. at Beacon Middle School in Lewes, DE. Nowadays, it wouldn’t be a surprise if you ran into me at a local karaoke bar!
Personal Life
Born in 1995 to Alan and Stacey Colegrove, I am a Sussex County Delaware boy through and through. I grew up in Millsboro with my parents and sister Courtney, lived in Lewes as I started my career in education, and have now settled in beautiful Milford, DE. I graduated from The University of Delaware in 2017 with two bachelors, Psychology & English (Film Concentration), and graduated from Liberty University in 2023 with a Masters in English Education. I am currently an employee of the Cape Henlopen School District where I have had the pleasure of working with students of all kinds.
I live in a 1920’s fixer upper farmhouse in Milford, DE with my gorgeous and talented Wife, Kait, as well as our Bernedoodle, Pepper and one-eyed rescue cat, Madeye. I love that I was able to settle in a town adjacent to my own, somewhere quaint and continuously growing with culture and community every year!
Growing up, I was often called “bullhorn” by my parents on account of my loud voice, making the theater and singing pathway a natural trail to venture. I have also been called a ham more times than I can remember, but I hold onto that with nothing but pride because nothing makes me happier than entertaining others.
